And the story began in 2005...
The duration from 2005 to 2010 was just five years. But these were not just usual five years as this was the time when telecom industry had almost reached to its full bloom. It has infiltrated to our personal lives to an extent that almost all of our social activities affected by it. The industry which was before 2005 just came out of its infancy has utilized technology resources and abilities to fully draw its positive effects in societies. And the fact alone is enough to prove this that mobile subscription world over had grown from 2 billion in 2005 to about 5 billion in 2010 world over.
I feel myself lucky to part of some high profile teams and has seen thing coming into reality through my own eyes. This was the time when I joined the most challenging and exciting world of telecom industry. And gone through some not only unique but at times even encountered first time experiences. To work in telecom industry demands a truly multicultural and multidisciplinary aptitude. The boom of this industry was so spontaneous that for some of the disciplines and skill levels there was no academia research or any reference book was available.
Site Design and Civil Works was one of the such areas, where the only the one who is being gone through the things had to decide based upon his/her own logical reasoning and experiences. And I remember some times when even after spending 3- 4 hours I was unable to find something very informative on internet. And then I had to talk to too many experts to talk about the same topic and at the end to draw my own conclusion based upon those discussions and my own telecom experience (which by the grace of God always worked).
Being a Site design and Civil works expert (or say Manager) one has to have and expert knowledge of Civil Engineering with common sense of structures and geotechnical engineering, enough knowledge of powers (and specially the renewable energy systems) supply systems of telecom sites, and also to be familiar with some of generator’s know how and last but even more important is management of all the processes within Site Design and Civil Works domain.
At the end of these five enthusiastic years in the industry I started feeling that my learning curve has now stopped climbing any more. And that there is almost no new challenge left for me now any more, I thought it is the time to quit and start focusing something more important. Something for which society and engineering both are still have trouble to deal with. So water problems draw my attentions and I get determined to get skills for that. Now I am doing my masters in Water Resources Engineering while still feel my affiliation with telecom industry. And whenever something new comes, it still excites me or when I am asked about some solution (off course related to Site Design or Civil works in telecom or related management issues) I feel involved, and it again refreshes and recalls my knowledge. I started to write this blog 1st to recall and refresh my knowledge and skill and 2ndly to provide something on web which I felt missing when I was actively in. And by this way this just a small effort to give back what I have learned from the industry.
So if you are in some position in telecom or related industry in civil works and design role and would have something new to share or ask both are a matter of pleasure for me... just do it in comments or email me personally.
